Story of Jasmin

The owner of M/Y Jasmin has been in search of an elegant yet sturdy and go-anywhere yacht with spacious spaces. None of the available plans then were matching the needs, so it was decided to pioneer a concept and order a design for it. The definition was simple : "M/Y Jasmin should be a twin screw, displacement type, 120" ocean going, long range, elegant yacht with flared bow and a walk through transom.” So Mr. Dick Boon, the designer, started his design process in mid of 2000. He decided to add a bulb to the hull. Thus, Jasmin is one of the first expedition yachts in her size with a bulbous bow. Mr. Dick Boon and Vripack Yachting International Naval Architects B.V. team have also carried out the design development and engineering.

A full series of optimization studies have been performed in Istanbul and Rotterdam in order to find the best hull form.

Meanwhile the process of selecting the appropriate shipyard has been concluded and it has been decided that RMK Marine/Tuzla - Istanbul would be the most suitable one. For the last 25 years RMK Marine has been engaged in yacht construction and repair as well as international projects. The 105.000m² yard is equipped with all facilities to build and repair boats and vessels of any type.

The construction of M/Y Jasmin began on March 01, 2001 with an agreed total construction period of 24 months. Mr. Dick Boon personally supervised the construction period from the first day. After the completion of construction, the Interior design works started with Vripack interior designers and Styling has been done by Act Studio and Mrs.Birgul Vargi.

The construction was completed on 8th of April, 2003 and M/Y Jasmin was delivered by RMK Marine to the owner. On the 25th of April, she started her maiden voyage from Istanbul to Genoa to attend the Genoa International Charter Boat Show.
